EKOLAMP Slovakia

is an association of legal entities founded by world-wide producers of lamps and luminaires whose purpose it is to establish and operate a producers‘ responsibility organization for electrical and electronic appliances belonging to categories No. 3, 4 and 5 in compliance with the relevant legislation.

BASIC PRINCIPLES

Taking care of the collection and recycling of all amounts of end-of-life lamps, luminaires and other small and large electro-appliances that the producers want to dispose of

Financing the organization evenly by its associate members based on their current market share

Not taking into account the brand, the date of putting it on the market or its origin – household or non-household

Non-business activities as a not-for-profit organization

OUR VISION

To create a network of collection points that is reasonably accessible to all end-users where they can bring back used fluorescent lamps, discharge lamps, luminaires, small and large electro-appliances free of charge and in unlimited quantities

To achieve high collection rates while keeping the costs sustainable

To fulfil the legal obligations of our associate members on their behalf on a long-term basis within our collective scheme of financing the waste management of electrical and electronic appliances belonging to categories No. 3, 4 and 5, which clearly gives them an equivalent fully replacing an individual solution

OUR ROLE

To provide high-quality services of take-back and cooperation to all collection yards that carry out separate collection

To raise environmental awareness among the general public in Slovakia and to support separate electro-waste collection by means of a clear and motivating marketing communication

To fulfil all obligations on behalf of our associate members in order to comply with the legislation on electro-waste while observing the principles of equality and confidentiality of sensitive data

RECYCLING FEE

EKOLAMP‘s recycling fee covers all costs related to the collection, transport, recycling and management of electro-waste which consists of waste lamps, luminaires and other small and large electro-appliances as well as other operational and financial costs of the Producers‘ Responsibility Organization.

It is charged for every electro-appliance belonging to Categories No. 3, 4 and 5 put on the market in the Slovak Republic.

The recycling fee value is determined separately for lamps, luminaires and other small and large electro-appliances. It is re-assessed regularly in order to achieve a financial balance enabling the fulfilment of all obligations.

The visibility of the recycling fee at the moment of selling goods to end-users makes the financing transparent and enables the customers to bring back used lighting equipment as well as other small and large electro-appliances free of charge both at present and in the future. This electro-waste will be recycled and recovered in an eco-friendly way.

EKOLAMP receives the recycling fee as a contribution from the associate members of the collective scheme. Its current value and development can be found here

that takes care of the collection and recycling of end-of-life lamps and luminaires

We offer the possibility

of a free-of-charge separate collection of fluorescent lamps, discharge lamps, luminaires and other small and large electro-appliances to all end-users at our partners‘ collection points.

We run a Producers‘ Responsibility Organization (PRO)

to ensure that the responsibilities of the lighting equipment producers and importers are assumed in a complex way in compliance with both Slovak and European legislation.

We cooperate with collection yards

that conduct a separate electro-waste collection as well as with lighting technology stores that take back used electrical and electronic appliances belonging to categories No. 3, 4 and 5.

We provide collection containers

and containers for separate collection of non-functional lamps free of charge, we also organize their pickup and transport

We procure ecological recycling

of all amounts of non-functional lamps and luminaires that have been collected and taken back

We follow legislation and provide consultancy

on the issues of waste management for our members
